Natural Areas Maintenance Foreman

Sign-On Bonus: $500 after your first ~12 weeks

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead Field Operations: Supervise maintenance crews and landscape teams, ensuring the highest standards of quality control and performance.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with Field Operations Supervisors to ensure projects are completed on time, within the budget, and according to the schedule, while maintaining excellent communication throughout.
  • Report Preparation & Filing: Prepare detailed maintenance job reports, safety logs, and herbicide application reports to keep projects on track and compliant.
  • Client Interaction: Maintain positive client relationships, ensuring their satisfaction and addressing any concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Team Development: Assist in the training and development of new Maintenance Technicians and field operations staff, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team and organization.

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Expertise in Horticulture & Natural Sciences: A knowledge of plant identification and a love for the care and maintenance of natural areas.
  • Educational Background: While a high school diploma or equivalent is required, we prefer candidates with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in landscaping, horticulture, environmental science, or a related field. 2-5 years of experience or training, or a combination of both, would be a great fit.
  • Experience and Skills: You’re familiar with horticulture, conservation, and natural sciences, and know your plants by name! You have strong self-motivation to work independently and make adaptive maintenance decisions in the field, with approval from the supervisor(s). Ability to adapt and overcome challenges related to weather, project timelines, client
    expectations, and budget constraints. Proficiency with equipment operation is essential, and we value your enthusiasm to keep learning.
  • Physical Stamina: You’re comfortable working outdoors in all kinds of weather and can regularly lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Team Spirit: You thrive in a collaborative environment and can communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues and clients alike.
  • Leadership & Accountability: Ability to lead teams, take initiative, and ensure all job responsibilities are executed with precision and professionalism.
  • Professionalism & Communication: Pro-active communication is key to this position, as it requires constant feedback to supervisors and project management about changing site conditions, alternative controls, or for clarity about assigned tasks. Strong organizational skills, clear communication, task and time management, and a professional attitude to build relationships with both team members and clients.
  • Required Certifications: A valid driver’s license is required (Commercial Driver’s license a plus). A Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicator license is required. A minimum of 10 hours of OSHA Safety training is required.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
