LandStudies’ President Receives Woman of Lifetime Achievement in Conservation Award

Congratulations to LandStudies’ President, Kelly Gutshall, for being honored with the Woman of Lifetime Achievement in Conservation through PennFuture’s Celebrating Women in Conservation Awards. This award celebrates the lifetime accomplishments of a remarkable woman who has made a difference by devoting significant parts of her life to protecting and enhancing Southeast PA’s natural greatness and for her tireless dedication to environmental advocacy. Kelly’s diligent efforts and dedication to protecting and enhancing the natural assets of this region have equipped her with a suit of achievements.

Through her 35-year career, Kelly has helped pioneer the firm’s science-based approach to ecological planning and design. Her extensive knowledge and experience in sustainable-site planning, watershed planning, creating and managing ecologically diverse plant communities, alternative stormwater management, and restoration design have helped her guide the firm in exploring and finding solutions to some of the most challenging problems of our generation. Her most recent work has focused on working with communities and municipalities to help them meet Chesapeake Bay regulatory compliance goals.

She has been recognized by numerous organizations over the years for her environmental contributions and most recently was named the 2018 Penn State College of Arts and Architecture Alumni Award for Landscape Architecture recipient. Deaf from the age of 35, Kelly has also been active as a mentor with the National Bionic Ear Association and as an advocate for the challenges of the hearing impaired in the work place.

Recipients will be honored at the Awards Ceremony on April 25th in New Cumberland, PA. Congratulations to Kelly and all the other recipients for these well-deserved awards! Read more here.
