City of Lancaster implements water quality and recreational improvements

Combining recreational amenities with efforts to improve water quality and control stormwater are a win-win for communities. LandStudies worked closely with the City of Lancaster and the land development consultant, Lancaster Civil, to develop a master plan and design for stormwater best management practices (BMPs) for the new Lancaster City Operations Center.  The design of the trail through the site along with native landscape features such as meadows and riparian buffers were integral to the design. The resulting project manages stormwater runoff, enhances infiltration, and filters pollutants before going into the Conestoga River.

This project is part of a larger effort to increase recreational opportunities in the City, who is also nationally recognized for their work using green alternatives to managing stormwater runoff. LandStudies is proud to support Lancaster City’s efforts to strategically plan for natural resource management and sustainable outcomes.

LandStudies provided master planning, design and permitting, as well as, the construction oversight for this project which was completed in 2019.
