SUMMARY:11th Annual Susquehanna River Symposium
DESCRIPTION:LandStudies will be exhibiting selected watershed projects at this year’s Susquehanna River Symposium at Bucknell University. \nBucknell University will host the 11th Annual Susquehanna River Symposium\, “A Tale of Two Rivers: The Susquehanna and the Delaware\,” on Nov. 11 & 12 in the Elaine Langone Center. The event is free and open to the public. Registration is required only for exhibitors and those giving oral or poster presentations. General symposium attendees are not required to register. \nThe symposium is offered by the Watershed Sciences & Engineering Program of the Bucknell Center for Sustainability & the Environment to connect scientists and engineers from throughout the mid-Atlantic region to focus on issues regarding the Susquehanna and Delaware watersheds. \n“This event brings together academics\, watershed managers\, consulting scientists and engineers\, and the public to discuss ongoing scientific research and innovative projects\, to share ideas\, and to increase awareness of watershed health\, policy\, and sustainability issues facing the Susquehanna and Delaware watersheds\,” said Program Director Benjamin Hayes. \n“After focusing solely on the Susquehanna for the past ten symposia \, we are excited to expand this year’s event to include the Delaware watershed. There are similarities and yet distinct differences between the two river basins\, not only in hydrology\, geology\, and ecology\, but also in land use and natural resource extraction\, infrastructure\, their estuaries\, and water law and policy. We are very excited about broadening the scope of this symposium and look forward to the conversations and discussions that will take place.” \nFor more information: http://www.eg.bucknell.edu/wse/river_symposiums/2016/index.html

SUMMARY:Green Infrastructure & Stormwater Best Management Practices Tour
DESCRIPTION:LandStudies has designed and built nearly 100 green infrastructure sites in Pennsylvania\, with approximately 30 located near our Lititz (Lancaster County) Pennsylvania office. LandStudies will share its vast experience in water resource management and watershed planning with tour participants for the purpose of ensuring EPA compliance\, improving community well-being and providing economic value to stakeholders. The hands-on educational tour showcases nearby green infrastructure sites (with up to 15 years of performance history) and cost-effective best management practices that stack environmental and regulatory benefits. \nTour Sites Demonstrate:\nAlternative stormwater management techniques\nGroundwater infiltration in karst geology\nNutrient and sediment pollution reduction\nWater quality improvement to meet municipal MS4 and TMDL requirements\nPollution reductions in accordance with the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Implementation Plan\nIncreased stormwater attenuation to potentially reduce localized peak flooding\nTour Features:\nQuantified water quality and quantity benefits\nEcological restoration with environmental and regulatory benefits\nCost-benefit analysis for each project\nComparison of various techniques\nLessons learned
